Like a sudden sprouting from seemingly dormant earth, Idlewild’s (aka Andrea Clement) first album “New Growth” was birthed from the fertile soil of ten years of love, heartache, and communion with nature. After a lifetime of longing to be a musician, Andrea utilized stretches of isolation between fieldwork in Alaska’s dark winters to learn her first instrument shortly after her 30th birthday. Uncomplicated and unabashedly vulnerable, the album combines simple strumming, raw vocals, poetic processing turned lyricism, and found sound from memories past. Since its 2022 release, Andrea has continued to deepen artistically through collaboration and spontaneous performance with other musicians met on the road.
